The Cross

The cross may be foolishness to the perishing (1 Cor 1:18), but we will be fools for Christ (1 Cor 4:10), for it is the power of God to us who are being saved (1 Cor 1:23-25). We will not be ashamed of Him before men or He will be ashamed of us when He comes again (Mark 8:38).

We must humble ourselves, pray and seek Him (2 Chron 7:14), denying ourselves and taking up our cross to follow Him (Mark 8:34), boasting in nothing of ourselves, but solely in the Lord, for the world has been crucified to us (Gal 6:14) and we are to be separate from the world (2 Cor 6:17).

Hi AL,

This reminds me a lot of the people around the world who give their all for Christ no matter what the cost (in some cases, they die for their faith). They take up the cross daily and follow Christ. We can really learn from their example!

Sometimes, I think that we as Americans have no concept of what it means to deny ourselves and take up our crosses; that is, we don't really know what it is to suffer for God. I just love that picture, because it speaks volumes on so many levels. Are we ready? Are we REALLY? Are we going to take up our crosses and follow Christ, or are we going to turn around and walk the other way as the rich young ruler did? (I did a post on this a while back: http://bit.ly/auPaG5)

I could go on and on about this; as you can tell, it's a subject that is dear to my heart. Thank you for the great reminder!

Have a great weekend!

Thanks Miss S! It's definitely something we all, as Christians, should be thinking about more.

If you follow the link to the Lawman Chronicles, you'll find a lot of his stories of how a cross with those words written on it have opened up many conversations and opportunities for witnessing.
I hope to do the same.

The cross certainly does get people's attention when you're carrying it with you on the streets!
